MAT CLASSES

The Pilates Matwork is a series of floor exercises, precisely ordered, designed to strengthen and stretch the entire body. The exercises were created using six basic principles; concentration, centering, control, precision, breathing, and flow. Once the knowledge of the exercises and skill to perform them are developed, the matwork can be a comprehensive and well rounded workout for the average, healthy individual. (See full calendar of current classes at bottom of page)

Mat Essentials is a series of classes geared toward the normal, healthy individual interested in learning the basic principles and fundamentals of the Pilates Method as they relate to the Pilates Matwork.  Exercises are introduced in a progressive manner as corrections and modifications are provided by the instructor.  Proper form  and execution of the exercises will be emphasized as students gain knowledge and control of their bodies.

TOWER CLASSES

The Pilates Tower Class is designed for the advanced matwork student who is looking to advance their practice. A full advanced mat is performed in the first portion of class, while the latter utilizes classic work from the Cadillac and Guillotine. This one-hour class is great for those individuals who crave a little variety to their mat, as well as those would like to experience a little of the pilates apparatus, but don’t necessarily have the resources for private training.

Tower Orientation class shows the aspiring Tower Class participant the nuts and bolts of the Tower System. Students will learn how to set up and use the equipment safely, as well as how to adjust the apparatus to suit their particular bodies. Although this class is less likely to flow due to lack of experience, like all pilates emphasis is placed on proper form and alignment. There is a Tower Orientation the first Saturday of each month at 10am.

APPARATUS CLASSES

Our teacher and mentor, Romana Kryzanowska, only taught group apparatus (reformer, chair, etc) classes for certified instructors and other highly skilled individuals. And we follow her example. To make sure you, our student, receives the best pilates workout experience, these classes have a few prerequisites . . .

1. Only students who are without injury and currently doing strong, advanced Pilates work can sign up. This is just a safety precaution, since an instructor will not be able to spot everyone at the same time!

2. The class involves very advanced techniques on the apparatus, so if you've only had limited experience on that piece of equipment, you'll need to get some private lessons. Because, as with any of our group lessons, you'll be expected to know the exercises and how to set up for them (just like Tower classes). Talk to any instructor about getting some help learning the apparatus!

3. You'll need the permission of an instructor to be able to sign up for the class. Again, this is just for safety and to make sure that everyone who is working out has the same level of experience.

Hope to see you in class soon!

Reformer Classes  are a strong, demanding workout . Because of the advanced nature of the class, there are a couple of things you'll need to know . . .

1. Only students who are without injury and currently doing strong, advanced Pilates work can sign up. This is just a safety precaution, since instructors will not be able to spot everyone at the same time!

2. The class involves the use of transitions and spring changes on the Reformer, so if you've only had limited experience on that apparatus, you'll need to get some lessons. As with any group lessons, you'll be expected to know the exercises and how to set up for them (just like Tower classes). Talk to any instructor about getting some private training.

3. You'll need the permission of an instructor to be able to sign up for the class. Again, this is just for safety and to make sure everyone is working out at the same level.

Hope to see you in class soon!

Wunda Chair Classes  are the most challenging on our schedule.

If you can make it through an advanced chair workout, there is probably not much you can't do in Pilates!

Be sure to observe the same prerequisites as our other classes to be assured of a safe and effective (and yes, fun!) workout experience.
