“I first encountered the Pilates Method in 1980 because of my interest in dance, but it wasn’t until much later that my interest finally peaked.”  In the meantime, Larry’s interest in fitness and movement led him to the exercise industry in 1984 as an aerobics instructor.  Later, in 1986, he was part of the first group of teachers certified by ACE in group exercise instruction.  In 1990, he expanded his professional skills by obtaining his certification as a personal trainer.  It was that same year that saw him join the New Orleans Ballet Ensemble, a professional ballet company.

Larry performed with the company locally and toured throughout Louisiana in such works as A Midsummer Nights Dream, Alice in WonderlandA Streetcar Named Desire and Where the Wild Things Are, as well as numerous works by nationally known choreographers.  However, it was his own back and knee injuries, as well as exposure to the strong, lithe, but often  injury-prone ballet dancers that saw his interest in Pilates grow.  It was during this time that Larry began his 15-month apprenticeship with the renown GrandMaster teacher Romana Kryzanowska in New York City.  After completing the rigorous program, Larry became the first New York-certified Pilates instructor in Louisiana.

Larry left the ballet company in 1997, but still performs in local musical theater productions.  Since then, he has worked diligently to fill the need for quality instruction in the authentic, pure, and original form of the Pilates Method as taught by Joseph Pilates himself and carried on by his protégé, Romana Kryzanowska.
